Our editorial approach

Coverstories helps international travelers choose a Tokyo base and plan the practical details of a stay. Our guides focus on neighborhood fit, transport, hotel options, and the trade-offs that matter to a particular trip.

Recommendations should explain who an option suits, its practical advantages, and its limitations. A ranking is editorial judgment based on the criteria in the guide, rather than a guarantee that one choice will suit every traveler.

AI-generated images

Coverstories uses AI-generated images to illustrate travel themes, neighborhood atmosphere, and ideas discussed in its guides. These images can look photographic, but they are illustrative scenes created with AI, not photographs taken at the destination.

They may contain invented or inaccurate buildings, street layouts, signs, interiors, views, or other details. An illustrative image should not be used to confirm what a particular hotel, room, restaurant, station, or attraction looks like, or what facilities it offers. Check the relevant property’s or operator’s official photographs and information before making a booking or travel decision.

This page provides our site-wide disclosure of AI-generated imagery. The notice is consolidated here rather than repeated beside individual AI-generated images. Credits and license notices for images obtained from other sources remain separate, as do labels explaining the limits of schematic maps and diagrams.

Sources & verification

Our sourcing standard gives priority to the organization responsible for the information: a hotel, transport operator, attraction, retailer, government body, or other official source. Guides should link to those sources for important details that readers may need to check.

Published research, editorial judgment, and firsthand observation should be distinguishable. Any claim of a visit or on-site inspection needs an identified visit date and the places checked. A guide or image by itself does not establish that we visited, stayed at, or personally tested the places mentioned.

Unlinked quotations and unsupported claims of social-media consensus are not evidence. Room details should refer to the named room type; conditions for one room or booking plan should not be generalized to an entire hotel.

Updates & changing information

Travel information changes. Fares, opening hours, routes, facilities, booking conditions, availability, and prices may change after a page is reviewed. Article review dates indicate when material information was reviewed; they do not guarantee that every linked page or service is unchanged.

Key guides are revised when changes materially affect a travel decision. Prices and travel times are planning references unless clearly identified otherwise. Before booking or setting out, confirm current details with the responsible provider, including taxes, fees, access requirements, and cancellation terms.

Schematic maps and diagrams simplify real locations. Their labels and limitations should remain visible; use an official map or current navigation service for precise routes and access information.

Advertising & affiliate links

Some hotel, product, activity, or booking links may be affiliate links. If you complete a qualifying purchase after following one, Coverstories may receive a commission. The referral should not add a fee to your purchase.

Commercial links do not buy a ranking or remove an inconvenient drawback. Recommendations are based on the decision criteria stated in the guide. Where advertising or sponsored content is used, its commercial nature should be clearly identified. A link to a business does not, by itself, mean there is a paid partnership.

Image credits & copyright

Images, maps, quotations, and other material obtained from third parties must be used with appropriate permission or another valid basis for use. Required creator credits, source links, and license notices should accompany the material as required by its terms. The AI-image disclosure above does not replace those obligations.

A source citation does not transfer copyright or grant permission to reuse someone else’s work. If you believe material on Coverstories has been used incorrectly, contact us with the page URL, the material concerned, and information identifying the original work or rights holder.

If you find an error, outdated detail, broken link, or accessibility problem, email info@coverstoriess.com. Include the page URL, the wording or feature concerned, and an official source where available.

Reports are checked against the relevant primary source. Verified material errors are corrected, and the article’s review date is refreshed when a correction changes a travel decision. Minor spelling or formatting fixes may not receive a separate note. See our Corrections Policy.
